Dulwich College Shanghai students perform for HM the Queen’s Birthday

Young musicians from Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong and Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi delighted guests of the British Consul-General, Mr John Edwards, at Her Majesty the Queen’s Birthday Party. He said, "It was great to have Dulwich College Shanghai schools supporting the QBP. The students that performed were absolutely fantastic!"

Aboard a sailing ship with wooden masts that set out along the Huangpu River at dusk, Dulwich College International Junior School students were invited to open the event. Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong’s string quartet of Ethan, Mimi, Josh and Jason performed Handel’s Water Music (Minuet, Bourree, Air and Rigaudon). They were followed by piano soloist Casey, a Year 5 student from Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi, who impressed the audience with Doctor Gradus ad Parnassum by Debussy.

John Todd, Regional Director of Schools for China, said, “It is a fantastic opportunity for our students to be involved in such a special and unique event. At Dulwich College International, we are very proud of our string programme in Junior School, and every single student in Year 3 is given their own string instrument and the opportunity to play and perform on stage. I’m so proud of our students today, who not only performed brilliantly, but also showed their professionalism and dedication.”
