We did it! Dulwich Pudong breaks world record for largest game of Secret Santa

It’s official – we are World Record Breakers for the second time in five years, after our community came together to play the largest game of ‘Secret Santa’ ever held. On 30 November, a grand total of 1,500 students, parents and staff gathered on the school field to exchange gifts with each other anonymously.

Under the rules of ‘Secret Santa’, participants donate and receive a gift without knowing who they are giving it to or getting one from. Our attempt was overseen by an adjudicator from Guinness World Records™, the global authority that verifies world record attempts, which has finally given us the good news we had all been waiting for.

Our tremendous collective effort saw us beat the previous record of 1,463 participants held by Lexington High School in Kentucky, US, for 11 years. To ensure the wider community also benefits, our Global Citizenship team has arranged associated activities on behalf of our local community partner, Noughts and Hearts.

Time and again, the students, parents, and staff at Dulwich Pudong go above and beyond for the community. And with incredible act of collective generosity, togetherness and school pride, they have created a historic legacy and amazing memories that will be shared for years to come.

The Dulwich Pudong community is one of a kind and to break not just one, but two world records in just five years is an incredible and historic legacy. The atmosphere on the day was electric and there was a real sense of teamwork, joy and pride as everyone came together in the true spirit of giving. This will be an amazing memory that we will all share for years to come and once again shows the world what our unique community can achieve.

Dulwich Pudong first became world record breakers in 2019 after leading the world’s largest environmental sustainability lesson for more than 3,000 Dulwich College International students.

Our world record attempt was the perfect start to a day of festive fun, with more than 5,000 people turning out for our annual Winter Fair in the afternoon.
