Head of Computer Science, Year 9PW Form Tutor
Phil's degree was in Software Engineering and Microelectronics at the University of Newcastle. During his course he was convinced to be a primary school teacher, so he transferred and gained a honours degree in Primary Education with QTS. After spending a number of years working as a primary school teacher and primary computing specialist, he re-trained as a secondary school Computer Science teacher and completed a MSc in Computing with the Open University. Phil feels very lucky to have taught such a broad age range of students, but he especially enjoys teaching in Senior School. Prior to arriving in Shanghai he taught in England, New Zealand and Saudi Arabia. Phil spends most of his spare time brushing up on his programming skills and dabbling in IoT (Internet of Things) related technologies. It gives him an enormous sense of purpose helping to shape the Computer Science department here at Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong, and he feels very privileged being part of a group of such wonderful and motivated students, parents and staff.
