Deputy Head of Junior School
Before a career in teaching, Simon was a professional musician, gaining his B.Mus from the University of Birmingham, a Mus.M from the University of Manchester & the Royal Northern College of Music, before taking a Fulbright Scholarship to the Manhattan School of Music in New York. Before his studies, he had a year out living and working in Sydney and after New York, settled in London. Once married with children, his famiy and he sought the rural life and moved to Norfolk where they lived happily for seven years. But – the privilege and experience of living and working in another country called – and they haven’t looked back. Joining Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong has proven to be the life-changing experience they were hoping for. The College’s thirst to provide children with as wide a variety of high-quality opportunities is fantastic. Simon find himself muttering daily, “What lucky, lucky children.” His working day in the Junior School is incredibly exciting and the opportunities to learn from others in DUCKS and the Senior School provide constant professional development. There is a real culture of learning for the staff and endless opportunities to grow as a professional. The local environment is wonderful for families and they are loving exploring everything that Shanghai has to offer. They know that the next few years are going to be full of wonderful experiences.
