Co-Curricular Activities
WELCOME
Our Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) are vital to the College's holistic education, complementing the curriculum and fostering essential life skills. Research indicates that CCA participation enhances student engagement and can correlate with better academic performance, while also supporting students' passions during the university application process. We offer a diverse CCA program tailored to different age groups, encouraging younger students to explore and older students to develop decision-making and leadership skills. This page provides parents with an overview of the CCA opportunities at Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong (DCSPD) to help them select the best options for their children.
Our CCA Pathway
CCAs are intentionally different for different age groups, with the focus on developing different life skills.

The CCA Categories
We have designed our CCA programme to offer breadth and reflect our holistic educational philosophy. At DCSPD, we are well known for our sport, music and drama programmes and students have a chance to take part at all levels across these categories, whether it is sports for fun or competitively, whether it’s high-level ensemble performances or in a student led rock band. Within drama, there are opportunities for budding actors and actresses, as well as stage management, tech and AV or even costume design.

Our school vision is that our students LIVE WORLDWISE, and part of this is our focus on Global Citizenship (GC). Within the category of Service and Sustainability, students show their care and compassion for animals, people and the planet. This can range from gardening CCA, selling domestically sourced coffee beans, raising awareness for animal shelters to volunteering with our community partners in Shanghai, in China and in the world. The Cultural Enrichment category also sits within GC and our College value to Value Every Voice. We want students to have respect and understanding for other cultures. We recommend that students take part in at least one GC CCA category during the year.
CCAs
Technology, Journalism and Media were defined as individual categories to reflect the importance of EdTech and social media in the 21st century. Robotics and coding are already taught in the classroom, but these CCAs offer students with a passion for technology to develop their skills further. Journalism and media include opportunities for student hone their writing, interviewing, editing skills with a range of offerings such as Dulwich TV (Senior School), Dulwich Reporter (Junior School) or even being in the editorial committee of the College Yearbook (Upper School).

The last two categories of Academic Enrichment and Learn Through Play develop students’ own passion for learning. In the past, we have had student initiate CCAs for cup stacking, Rubik’s cube and even retro-gaming. Teachers may also offer extension CCAs in their subjects that go beyond the curriculum.

A majority of our CCAs are run internally by DCSPD staff, including our Dulwich Football Academy (DFA) and Dulwich Swimming Academy (DSA). The CCA programme is supplemented by external providers who bring professional expertise in their field of knowledge, such as tennis, golf, chess, coding to name a few.
