Cinderella & Rockerfella Premiere: Dulwich Voice
Every week we share with you the successes, milestones and special moments that make our Dulwich Pudong community so unique.
Theatre, sports and STEM are all distinct threads woven into the emblem of a Dulwich Pudong student. Years 5 and 6 put on an amazing production of their modern version of Cinderella, our swimmers achieved great results at the Shanghai Swimming League and our Planet Hack teams engineered creative solutions for a sustainable future.
Years 5 and 6 Cinderella & Rockerfella Grand Premiere
Our annual Years 5 and 6 stage production was held over two nights, 19 and 20 November, in our very own Dulwich Pudong theatre. This year's show, Cinderella & Rockerfella, was a modern, feel-good retelling of the much-loved Cinderella fairy tale. With a rock-star prince, a sparkling fairy godmother and two unforgettable stepsisters, this panto-style performance brought laughter, music and a touch of magic to the stage. Featuring energetic songs and plenty of humour, our Years 5 and 6 students showcased teamwork, creativity and confidence as they shared this story of kindness, courage and being true to who you are.
Shanghai Swimming League Round 2
On 15 November, our school successfully hosted the Shanghai Swimming League Round 2 Swim Meet, attracting representative teams from 12 international schools in Shanghai, while another 12 schools competed at Dulwich College Suzhou.
84 of our 113 AquaPanthers competed and delivered spectacular performances, setting numerous school records and age group records. A monumental highlight was Jessica X breaking two SSL Records in the 50 freestyle and 100 Freestyle. Our athletes also achieved Personal Bests for 67% of their events!
In the end, we secured an excellent third place out of 24 in the overall team standings. Through intense competitions like these, we see team members gain valuable experience and achieve significant growth.
Not only did our swimmers perform admirably, but their parents provided an incredible wave of support through their boundless enthusiasm. Over 30 parents volunteered their time and energy, and our parent cheerleading squad was a force of nature—their cheers, propelled by two massive drums borrowed by the music department, motivated the athletes and captivated the audience.
The result was a smoothly run meet that drew compliments from all schools involved. The Dulwich Family strikes again, showing Shanghai the power of our community.
This valuable experience will inspire our team to achieve even greater success in future competitions.
Next event: ACAMIS Senior @ WCIS.
See you there!
Well done to all our AquaPanthers for representing Dulwich with immense pride!
Planet Hack 2025
This year's two-day Planet Hack was successfully held at Dulwich Pudong in early November in partnership with the Australian National University (ANU) and Education in Motion (EiM). The event is a multi-day STEM hackathon where students use their engineering skills to find solutions to some of our planet's most pressing issues. Over the two days, students addressed specific challenges within a limited timeframe, aiming to prototype innovative solutions. This year's theme centred on Energy Saving.
In the Junior Challenge category, participants were tasked with designing creative solutions to help communities, families or schools store renewable energy more effectively. The Senior Challenge category focused on identifying problems with current energy storage systems and designing solutions that enhance safety, sustainability and inclusivity.
The event was a tremendous success, showcasing remarkable ideas and outcomes. Congratulations to all the teams that participated! Special recognition goes to the Junior Challenge team — Ophelia, Alice, Emelia and Ally — and the Senior Challenge team — Constantin, Kiana and Chelsea. Both teams' work has been submitted to ANU for judging against other Dulwich schools.
The results will be announced in December. Best of luck to our teams!
