The Upper Gym was buzzing this Wednesday morning as all the Senior School students gathered to watch the finals of the annual Dulwich Got Talent talent show (Senior School edition).

Dulwich Got Talent - a student-led, student-organised event - is one of the major House events of the year. Over the last month, students submitted audition videos, which were voted on by the student to decide the 6 finalists.

As always this year's final performances displayed a variety of talents from playing keyboards to dance to beat-boxing. The confidence with which they were able to perform in front of the peers and their teachers was truly remarkable.  House Prefect and DGT lead organizer Ethan, Year 13, shared, "Courage is a value embodied by all the performers, who have found their inner strength to step up into the spotlight and shine."

Let's meet our six finalists:

The final awards were decided by a panel of four Senior School teachers and the winners were (drum roll, please):

1. Isabella Y - WING

2. Christopher L - Shackleton

3. Sara W - Shackleton & Isabella O - Maathai

Kudos to Ethan and the House Prefect team who began planning DGT around a month before the scheduled date. DGT is always a huge logistical undertaking!

"If I had to use one word to describe Dulwich Got Talent, it would be 'energetic'. Whether it’s the performers, judges, or audience, everyone feels the anticipation and the rush of emotions from the event." shares House Prefect Ethan.

One issue that they faced was the rescheduling of this year’s DGT. Due to external circumstances, they had to move it to a later date, and this was quite a challenge , especially given the tight schedule of other events in school which limited scheduling options. However, they worked closely with the Senior School Leadership team to reschedule the event, and everything thought it went very well.

Ethan also shares that DGT is important because it brings students from different year groups together. At the College, our House  system is all about unifying the student body, and DGT has been a successful and enjoyable event that has allowed students to celebrate and promote House spirit.
