Looking back on Dulwich Pudong's 20th Anniversary

2023-2024 marked the 20th anniversary of Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong, a proud achievement and a momentous occasion in our history. Over the past two decades, Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong has been dedicated to providing exceptional education and fostering a nurturing environment for our students. 

To celebrate this significant milestone, we organized a series of grand events that brought together our students, parents, staff, and community partners. These celebrations are a tribute to our history and a testament to the collaborative community spirit that defines Dulwich Pudong.

01. 20th Birthday Bash

On Monday 4 September, we gathered together for our 20th Anniversary Birthday Bash. Students, staff, and parents celebrated 20 years of Making a Difference. To commemorate this event, the community joined together on the field to spell out a message big enough to be seen from the sky: DULWICH 20!

02. 2.0km Community Colour Run

A thousand students, staff, and parents came out for a day full of community spirit to celebrate our 20th Anniversary.  

Together we ran 2.0 kilometers around our beautiful Jinqiao neighborhood.

03. Making a Difference Winter Concert

Last December, we were treated to brilliant musical performances from our Dulwich Pudong choristers and musicians as part of the 20th Anniversary Winter Concerts.

From the opening notes of Joy to the World by the Brass Ensemble to the show stopping Gaudete delivered by our combined twelve choirs - comprising of over 300 Dulwich choristers – the evening was filled with highlights and magical moments.

04. Dulwich 20 Years Anniversary Gala Ball

On Saturday 24 February, the Dulwich 20th anniversary Gala Ball at the Peninsula Hotel was a night of swinging splendour and nostalgia as guests were transported back to the roaring 20s.

Celebrities, esteemed guests, accompanied by the leadership team of Dulwich Pudong, undoubtedly contributed to making this celebration an unforgettable evening. Their collective presence fostered a sense of joy and unity as they came together with members of our school community, leaving a lasting impression that will be treasured.

05. Future of Education Conference

On Saturday 13 April, the second Future of Education Conference co-hosted by Dulwich College Shanghai and Shanghai Dehong School, was successfully held at the Langham in Xintiandi. 

Representing universities that Dulwich International students have matriculated, four eminent educators and scholars from Oxford, Brown, MIT and Harvard together with headteachers and university counsellors from Dulwich and Dehong gathered to share the latest developments in education with nearly 200 attendees.

06. Mega Alumni Reunion

On Friday 31 May and Saturday 1 June, around 50 Dulwich alumni (from classes of 2010 to 2023) gathered for the College's 20th Anniversary reunion. The event consisted of a full day of activities on campus, and a delightful dinner in downtown Puxi with our Co-founder, and Head of College. 

The 20th anniversary alumni reunion was a resounding success, bringing together old friendships, cherished memories, and the spirit of Dulwich Pudong.

We extend our appreciation to all the alumni who joined us in commemorating this significant milestone. Here is to the next 20 years of friendship, making a difference and living Worldwise!

07. Founder's Day

The 20th Anniversary Founder's Day at Dulwich Pudong was the biggest community event of the year. Attended by students, staff, parents, alumni and VIPs, including Founder Mr Fraser White and Co-Founder Ms Karen Yung. It was joyous occasion filled with laughter, reunions, and heartfelt moments.

The captivating stage performances and activities lasted for an impressive six hours without a break, culminating in a 20th Anniversary Greatest Hits concert featuring music from Dulwich Pudong's history. On a beautiful balmy evening, families enjoyed picnics on the field whilst listening to professional quality outdoor music performed by over 400 Dulwich students. Highlights included “You Can't Always Get What You Want” by the Rolling Stones, in celebration of the time the Dulwich Shanghai choir performed live on stage with the legends themselves, and a time capsule filled with the community's predictions for 2044, which was sealed and ready to be opened in 20 years’ time.
