Meet Class of 2024 Graduate Sabina L

Sabina L's journey of learning at Dulwich began from Recepiton at DUCKS and came to a successful conclusion in the summer of 2024. This autumn, she will begin her studies at New York University, focusing on Hotel Management.

During her valuable time at Dulwich Pudong, Sabina actively participated in a range of campus activities. As the Prefect of the "Student Voice," she greatly developed and improved her leadership skills, while also acquiring a wealth of knowledge and wisdom under the guidance of several dedicated teachers. The strong bonds formed with teachers and fellow students will undoubtedly remain her most cherished and unforgettable memories of school.

We offer our sincere congratulations to Sabina L! May you continue to navigate your future studies and life with confidence and may success be on your path!

What do you intend to study at NYU?

I will be attending New York University’s School of Professional Studies. I will be majoring in Hospitality Management.

What inspired you to pursue that course of study?

I have always been interested in the service industry. Working with others and meeting new people has always been my motivation in life. Additionally, I have done an internship at the  Shangri-la Hotel which further made me realize how much I wanted to pursue the hotel industry and strengthened my passion.

How did your university counselors help you prepare for the application process?

My counselor, Mr Macdonald, helped me immensely throughout this journey as he kept me on track with regular meetings. He also suggested university options and gave me helpful feedback for my personal statements.

Dulwich Pudong teachers are well known for going above and beyond to support students. Any particular teachers you want to single out for their help and support along the way?

I am aware that all the Dulwich teachers go above and beyond for their students but I would like to express my deepest appreciation to Mr Hutchings and Mr Moore. Mr Hutchings was my History teacher in year 7 and coordinated MUN. I was part of that for all of Senior school and was the coordinator of Head prefects. Mr Moore, my Economics and Business Management teacher who has always helped me throughout IB. I was initially worried that my 2 IB HL subjects would be taught by a new teacher, but I cannot express how grateful I am that I was able to have the help and support of Mr Moore. He not only created his own teaching website which also consists of all the past paper questions, but he actually encourages us to ask him questions any time. I always saw myself looking forward to his classes and will miss his teaching.

What were some of your most memorable performance experiences during your time here?

I think my most memorable experience at Dulwich is being Student Voice head prefect. I have been in Dulwich Shanghai since year 4, and before that in Dulwich Beijing since nursery. Student Voice was something that I was always able to resonate  and connect with. I wanted to give a voice to everyone in senior school, hence created the Middle School Council. We were also able to successfully complete our annual event, Dulwich Talks, with a unique theme of The Spice of Life.

What other Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) were your involved in?

Dulwich being a holistic school has always supported me through different goals and passions I have had. Throughout my journey at DCSPD, I was part of the swim team, netball team, concert band, llamda and many more.

Our College vision is "Live Worldwise". What does Live Worldwise mean to you?

Live worldwide means to live with passion, meaning and determination wherever you are to me. I believe that now we are graduating, it is clear that we are all going to different parts of the world. Yet, we have this common connection of Dulwich that we will never forget. I will miss my friends and teachers the most from Dulwich.
