- Meet Our New Head of Junior School
We are thrilled to introduce our new Head of Junior School, Tony Pickhaver!
In many ways, this represents a return home for Mr. Pickhaver. He previously spent seven years at Dulwich Pudong, four as Assistant Head of DUCKS, before moving across the river to Dulwich College Puxi where he has been Deputy Head of Primary for the last three years.
Born and raised in Buckinghamshire, England, Mr. Pickhaver has been in education for over 20 years, most of them in a leadership role.
After graduating from University, he began his career teaching in a multicultural learning environment in London. After a few years he moved abroad and began teaching internationally, spending two years teaching in Ho Chi Minh City before moving to a leading international school in Cairo. It was at his school in Cairo where he gained valuable professional experience of student learning in Key Stage One and began his leadership journey as a Year Group Leader.
After a several years working in different year groups, Mr. Pickhaver moved to Shanghai and joined Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong, first as a Year Group Leader and then as Assistant Head of DUCKS. He spent the last three years as the Deputy Head of Primary School at Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi before returning to DCSPD.
Mr. Pickhaver has a keen interest in promoting intercultural awareness.
Intercultural awareness means understanding the intentionality of others.
"Intercultural awareness means understanding the intentionality of others," Mr. Pickhaver shares. "It helps us reflect upon the different values and beliefs which influence other people's behaviour and our own."
We are delighted to welcome Mr. Pickhaver back to the Dulwich Pudong family!
