Junior School Teaches Us About "The Bare Necessities"
Last week our Year 5 and 6 students took us into the jungle for a captivating performance of Disney's The Jungle Book!
The Jungle Book tells the classic tale of the boy Mowgli and his search for where he belongs. Is it in the jungle with friends like Baloo the Bear or in the village with the rest of the humans? Complicating things for the "Man Cub" is the ominous presence of the tiger Shere Khan who wants Mowgli out of the jungle one way or another.
The Jungle Book is the story of growing up, finding friends, understanding yourself better and searching for your place in the world. It's a story of self-discovery, inclusivity, and belonging, themes which are all very close to the heart of our Junior School students.
Our audience of parents was treated to a very entertaining show full of choreographed dance numbers and familiar songs such as "The Bare Necessities" and "I Wanna Be Like You." The props and constumes were outstanding, representating the hard work of the students backstage.
“It's been wonderful to see the values of the Jungle Book in action here in the Junior School.”
"It's been wonderful to see the values of the Jungle Book in action here in the Junior School," shared Tony Pickhaver Head of Junior School after the performance. "All week long you have been there for each other during the rehearsals, helping each other and encouraging each other every step of the way."
Take a bow, Junior School!
