Background

Brandon Entwistle is the Junior School Head of EAL where he leads the team of specialists in supporting student language and literacy acquisition.

Mr. Entwistle hails from Attleboro, Massachusetts in the USA and studied psychology as an undergraduate at Clark University. Before moving to Shanghai in 2011, he gained teaching experience substitute teaching in middle school classes, co-teaching in special needs classrooms, and volunteer teaching in Beijing, China and Durban, South Africa. In Shanghai, he worked for educational institutions such as English First Kids and multicultural schools such as Soong Ching Ling Primary School. During his first seven years teaching in Shanghai, Mr. Entwistle simultaneously pursued his professional development by studying international education at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia USA before being awarded his Masters of International Elementary Education in 2019.

Since joining Dulwich Shanghai Pudong, Mr. Entwistle has engaged in a variety of professional learning programs offered by the college including assessment and instruction for English language learners and translanguaging strategies and cycles. He also engages in daily bilingual education practice by striving to raise his two children to be English-Chinese bilingual and biliterate.
