David Knowles
Head of Mathematics
Mr Knowles was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. He studied mathematics at the University of Sheffield, and then followed this with teacher training at the University of Leeds.
Dulwich Shanghai is the fourth school that Mr Knowles has taught at. He worked 14 years in his first school, a large secondary school in Southeast England, during which time he held a variety of positions including Advanced Skills Teacher and Head of Mathematics.
Then followed a move to Costa Rica where Mr Knowles worked in a well-establish IB school. Following Costa Rica he joined another IB school, this time in Xi’an, China, where he again became Head of Mathematics.
Mr Knowles moved to Dulwich Shanghai in 2016. As well as teaching mathematics, he also now teaches Theory of Knowledge and is head of the Maths Department.
