Sofie Finan

Background
Sofie Finan has always been passionate about working with children. Whilst completing her A-Levels, she worked for the local authority as a sports coach, providing sports sessions for children from underprivileged backgrounds. After completing her degree, she worked as a residential childcare worker for looked after children. The experiences gained from both looking after children in care and within the local community encouraged her to pursue her dream to become teacher.
She started her teaching career in the UK in 2009 in a school in Oldham, Greater Manchester. In 2010, she made the decision to travel overseas to experience working in an international school environment, arriving in Shanghai in 2010.
In 2019 wanting a different school experience and to further herself professionally, she moved to Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong. Since arriving in Shanghai, she has married and is now the mother to two children. She considers Shanghai her home and has great passion for the city. She enjoyed her initial year teaching at Dulwich College and was excited to be given the opportunity to take on the role as the Deputy Head of Ducks. In her spare time she loves to sing and enjoys running.
