Timothy Parker

Director of Music

Background

Tim Parker is the college's Director of Music and oversees our extensive music programme and ensembles.

He is from the UK, and first came to China in 2011. Mr. Parker graduated from the University of Leeds with a Master's with a BA in music and qualified as a teacher in 1999.  

He started his teaching career in London and has been Head of Music and Head of Performing Arts at several schools in the South East of England. Mr. Parker also worked as a music leader for Kent Music and is a qualified Kindermusic instructor. In addition to his teaching career, Mr. Parker has had a busy career as a baritone soloist and freelance ensemble singer, and from 2008 was also a layclerk for Rochester Cathedral Choir.  

Since coming to China in 2011 Mr. Parker has worked as a singing teacher and from 2013 was the Head of Instrumental Music at Dulwich Pudong. He has taught music in all three schools (DUCKS, Junior School and Senior School, including IGCSE and IB music) and has led our choirs and orchestra at many memorable concerts, events, tours and festivals.

Mr. Parker also plays cello for the Shanghai Choral League Orchestra and Shanghai Baroque Chamber Orchestra and has also appeared as baritone soloist for the International Schools Choral Music Society at concerts in China and Korea.
