Vivi Bian
Dual Language Teacher and Mandarin Coordinator for KS1
Background
Vivi Bian gained her Bachelor’s Degree from Shanghai University of Engineering Science and then gained her qualification “Teaching Chinese as a Second Language" from the continuing Education department of East China Normal University in 2013. With a passion for teaching Chinese as a second language, Ms. Bian joined DUCKS in 2013, first as a Learning Assistant before becoming a Dual Language Teacher in 2015.
She became more interested in Chinese and Western culture and how a dual language environment can best support student’s learning. Therefore, she decided to apply for the Dual Language Coordinator in 2017.
After working in DUCKS for nearly 10 years, one of her favourite things about DUCKS is that seeing children as unique, curious, capable, and competent individuals. Ms Bian says it’s her role as a teacher to observe and participate in children’s needs and interests, and to provide guidance in helping them answer their questions. Reading and learning together with the children is always the best time of her day!
