Anthony Gillett

Assistant Head of Senior School (Holistic Development)

Mr. Gillett’s teaching career began in 2001 when he became a Geography teacher at a large comprehensive school in Manchester. Working at a diverse school in a vibrant city was a rewarding experience but a combination of the grey weather of Manchester and the pull of year-round sunshine and teaching A-level Geography led Mr. Gillett to move to an international school in Dubai.

The prospect of teaching IB Geography then led Mr Gillett to relocate to Mexico City where he was able to take student groups to study ecotourism, volcanic landscapes, and migration patterns as Head of Geography. The next school/country move was to Atlanta where he was the Head of Individuals and Societies as well as Head of Year. After 9 years in America, he then moved to DCPSD and since 2018 Mr Gillett has held roles such as the Head of Geography, the Head of Environmental Systems and Societies as well as the IB Coordinator.

Mr Gillett has also had various roles with IB, such as creating and leading IB Geography workshops globally since 2010 as well as inspecting IB schools. He has authored an IB Geography textbook and has written material for various publishers, such as Kognity.

Mr Gillett's interests outside of school tend to revolve around reading, running, badminton, listening to music, watching football and most importantly, spending time with his family.
